MPP Lennox demands action on Hamilton’s black soot and air quality as complaints rise to almost 500

HAMILTON — MPP Dr. Robin Lennox (Hamilton Centre) is demanding Minister McCarthy explain why his ministry is continuing to stonewall Hamiltonians about the black soot falling onto the community. MPP Lennox’s request to urgently meet with Minister McCarthy about the issue continues to be ignored over ten days later.

“No child or family should have to live in a community where they are coated in black soot if they step outside,” said Dr. Lennox. “Over 475 Hamiltonians have made formal complaints to the Ford government, but there continues to be zero information shared about what the government is doing to make our community’s air quality safe and why this black soot has worsened over these past few weeks.

“The Minister needs to step up, meet with community leaders, residents and health experts, and take action to make sure the air we live and breathe is safe for everyone.”

MPP Lennox released a letter demanding more information and announcing an upcoming town hall to meet with residents about the black soot and air quality issues.
